TRAILER: Son of Batman (2014)

The upcoming animated movie Son of Batman introduces Damian, the child Bruce Wayne never knew he had. The story is based on a 2006 comic-book arc written by Grant Morrison in which Batman learns that he has a violent, unruly pre-teen son, secretly raised by the terrorist group the League of Assassins.
The voice cast features:
Jason O'Mara as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Stuart Allan as Damian, Morena Baccarin as Talia, Giancarlo Esposito as Ra's Al Ghul, David McCallum as Alfred Pennyworth; Xander Berkeley as Kirk Langstrom/Man-Bat and Thomas Gibson plays the master assassin Deathstroke.
There are some pretty big changes from the original story, with Deathstroke as the main bad guy but it will be fun to see this story unfold in animated glory.

Son of Batman comes out in May on DVD, Blu-ray and for digital download; and will have its world premiere at WonderCon over Easter weekend in Anaheim, California.

Why Disney's 'Frozen' is Worth Watching

Once upon a time, Disney Animation had a very basic formula of producing quick paced entertaining family friendly stories with likeable characters, state of the art animation and sound. But something or someone wicked moved away from that and other than their hit 'Wreck-it-Ralph' in November 2012, Disney has not had a lot of success in their animation department and before that, 'Tangled' in November 2010.

But this is where 'Frozen' becomes a game changer with the return of it's proven formula. Based on the classic Hans Christian Anderson story 'The Snow Queen', Disney takes this story and adds the magic that we've come to expect.

Frozen tells the story of fearless optimist Anna (Kristen Bell) who teams up with Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) in an epic journey, encountering Everest-like conditions, and a hilarious snowman named Olaf (Josh Gad) in a race to find Anna's sister Elsa (Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom in an eternal winter.
Along with beautiful CGI animation, Frozen turns back time to a musical format when usually most animations will use a basic montage of the journey with the latest track sung by Taylor Swift or One Direction. This is not the case with frozen! The music and songs are relevant to the scenes which help to carry the story along perfectly. I took my kids to see this and was skeptical of what Frozen would be like but when looking around the cinema I noticed both kids and adults dancing in their seats to the songs, laughing out loud to the jokes and totally immersed in the Frozen world.

Overall this is a movie for everyone with the characters likeable (even the bad guys), the story is fast paced and the CG animation sublime. The standout for me was Josh Gad voicing the comedic pint sized snowman Olaf, who's one liners and slapstick action was just enough for laugh and not over the top.

After seeing this film it is of no surprise that Frozen has just surpassed $500 million USD at the box office in just 6 weeks. It's a heart warming story of love, family & commitment with a surprising twist in the film I wasn't expecting. Take the kids, a date or just yourself to see Frozen.
